The video-club "Religious studies and modern movie" has been working since December, 2001 under the aegis of IVA "The Christian Educational Centre" and the chair for religious studies of theological faculty of EHU (the leaders of the project - Dr.Th., senior lecturer of the chair for religious studies of theological faculty of EHU Mr.HULAP Vladimir and head of the chair for religious studies Prof. DANILOV Andrei).
The modern world from the first point of view can seem as if it has no religion, however the experience of transcendent, inherent to any person, has the expression in today's culture, the integral part of which is movie.
The meetings of club take place twice a month. In repertoir of club - first of all the modern "mass movie", which influences practically on each person, first of all on youth, shaping the certain system of values. Not having understood how the modern world has been living and thinking, it is impossible to conduct the dialogue with it. After each viewing they have tea-break and discussion, which sometimes happens to be so lively, that it lasts for hours. In the course of discussion not only the movie is discussed, but also wide spectrum of questions of modern life, exciting our society and Christians, living in it.
The students select films, which they would like to see and to discuss, themselves and on the basis of their wishes the video-fund has been creating in the library of theological faculty of EHU, which can be used by everybody wishing. The major problem - poor technical devices which is not permitting to realize the exhibiting of films before a numerous audience, it makes difficult the viewing of films with the participation of the students of other higher institutions of Minsk.
It is the first experience in our Republic, where it is possible to see and discuss film among the students of theology. We heartfelt invite to these meetings both Christians and interested youth.
Since April, 2002 under the initiative of Mr. HULAP Vladimir this project became inter-confession, since the roman catholic youth participates in it. It is very important to find the answers jointly to the questions, put by the modern European culture, taking only the best, that it is both in the Eastern and Western Christian tradition.
The technical support of the project has been realized by the Christian Educational Centre.
