The Sunday School at the International Voluntary Association “Saints Methodius and Cyrill Christian Educational Centre” and at the Theology Faculty of EHU has been existing since January, 1998 , conducting the studies both for the children and for the parents. At the beginning of December, 2000 there was 148 persons at the school, including 45 parents. In accordance with this the following age groups were formed: small (6-9 years old), middle (10-12 years old), teenagers group (13-17 years old) and adults group. The teachers at Sunday School are the graduates and the students of Theology Faculty of EHU, that provides a high educational level of studies.

The training to the Christian traditions, to the sense and depth of the Orthodox religious doctrine and service is going on at Sunday School. The studies help to the children and their parents to approach closer to the Faith and to perceive it in the agreement of the heart and of the mind.

The following subjects are included into the programs of the Sunday School:

Catechism, Liturgy, The Holy Scripture of Old and New Testament, Introduction to Theology, History of Religion, Lives of Saints, The Christian Ethics, Science and Religion.

The studies at the Sunday School have very alive, natural character. During the preparations of the lectures the main tendency is to made them in the form of sermon and conversation. For the small children the studies are carried out in the form of games, the drawings on bible themes are practiced and other methods, which permit to perceive actively the given information.

The Sunday School not only promotes the obtaining of knowledge about Orthodoxy, but also gives the example of Christian life.

One of the main tasks of Sunday School existence – is to create the community, united Christian family, where the people pray, train, play, communicate together, discuss their vital and spiritual problems.

The prayers are conducted regularly at the school, the children regularly attend services in the University Chapel and in the Churches of Minsk. The participation in the services gives the opportunity to bring together the received theoretical knowledge and put it into practice.

The agapes, tea-breaks take place regularly, where the children can speak to each other, discuss the problems, arising during the lessons or given by the teachers. The teacher and somebody of the parents sit with the children at each table, watching how the discussion goes on, direct the discussions between the children. After the agape the games take place.

The alive dialogue between the listeners and the teachers promotes the deeper mastering of knowledge.

Each new day the listeners more and more get used to each other and to the teachers, the Christian community has been forming.
