At present we have encountered serious financial problems, connected with the restoration of a recently returned building (February 3, 1999) to the Church by the state in the centre of Minsk, which is considered to be architectural and historical monument.
Putting of this building into operation will permit to extend the educational, enlightenment, social and charity activity of the Christian Educational Centre of Saints Methodius and Cyrill and the Theological Faculty.
This building will house the first University Church in our country, which at present is situated in a small room in the building of the Theology Faculty. There will be also a conference hall for support of scientific activity of the Centre and the Faculty, it will also be intended for large assemblies and other meetings of Minsk Eparchy.
The restoration of this building is very important in connection with the educational purposes and also in connection with the necessity of Chaplain work among the youth, especially among the students.
Realization of the reconstruction program of this building is also important in symbolic context. The matter is that this historical building constructed in 1913 is situated in one of the most important areas of city – on one of the major squares in the centre of Minsk, the capital of the Republic of Belarus. Our post-communist society really needs such visible symbols.
