The
mission of rehabilitation and educational complex lies
in the elaboration and implementation of Christian
educational and enlightenment projects and also in
rendering integrated physical, social, psychological and
spiritual aid on the basis of Christian experience to
the HIV-positive people and to the children with
cerebral paralysis (CPP), mainly to children suffering
from various post-Chernobyl diseases, differently abled
people, pupils and students. At the same time, the aid
will be rendered to all who may need it: both to
Christians irrespective from confession and the adepts
of other religions and non-believers.
The project framework envisages continuous multi-level
education of teachers, psychologists, social and Church
representatives and also conducting education work among
young people, the relatives of the HIV-positive and CPP
patients and also journalists dealing with the issues of
social and medical subjects, in particular, AIDS
expansion and prevention. Permanent educational programs
are expected to contribute to the opportunity for the
young people getting new promising jobs or raising their
skills level. Part of these projects will be carried out
on a fee basis making possible the work of the Centre
without sponsor donations. The complex will also carry
out spiritual and pastoral vicar work aimed at the crime
prevention, the growth of drug addicts, alcoholism and
AIDS among young people. The complex will have all
necessary equipment for holding national and
international conferences on anti-AIDS issues. Another
function of the complex is the work as consulting office
for AIDSers and their relatives. It will become the
place of rendering them psychological and spiritual aid.
Theologians from various confessions and denominations
will work in the Complex developing theology concepts of
the Church attitude to this problem, Christian social
aspects and pastoral ministerial service for AIDSers.
The
implementation of this project will allow not only to
solve the problems of the most socially vulnerable group
of population (HIV-positive, CPP patients, chair-bound
people, students but also to strengthen the role that is
played by the Orthodox Church in the public life of our
country. Besides, this implementation itself will
increase the role of non-governmental public initiatives
in the Republic of Belarus. One should mention an
important methodological role of the new Complex as an
multiplier of positive experience of the World Council
of Churches and other international and national church
and public institutions. This project will give the
opportunity to rapidly transfer the experience of
spiritual work of the Church organizations to the civil
ones and the latter’ experience to the Church ones.
The
Complex construction will allow to a large extent to
solve the problem of self-financing of the Centre due to
leasing of some of its premises and also from the
fee-paying educational actions. It will allow not only
to reimburse the Complex running expenses but also
finance some of the social, ecumenical and educational
projects of the Centre including the theology faculty.
The
total space of the Rehabilitation and Educational
Complex is 2092 sq.m. consisting of lecture rooms and
workshops, a gym, a House Chapel, a conference-hall,
office facilities, a sauna with pool, a shower room, a
massage room, two medical rooms and other facilities.
All premises (both basic and subsidiary) including the
sauna, the shower room, the building entrance are
designed for the differently abled people. The parish of
House Chapel will be oriented toward social work with
its patients and visitors.
