This project deals with the educational institution of a new type focusing on the study of classical languages and the Christian cultural heritage in all specialism classes, religious education as the conditions for the individual’s development acting in a single cultural, political and economic area of the Eastern European countries and European states. It is the first programme in the Republic of Belarus of creation of a state lyceum in cooperation with the Belarusian Exarchate of the Orthodox Church and its representative - The International Voluntary Association Saints’ Methodius and Cyrill Christian Educational Centre as its representative. It is for the first time in the independent Belarus that the state and the Church create a permanent joint project in the educational sphere.

The project aim is creation of a mechanism of formation of an integral personality prepared for university education in the humanities. The originality of this programme is in the introduction of the Church Slavonic language, the Greek language of the New Testament and the Eastern Church Fathers period, Christian Latin and the two millenia cultural tradition, the relations between the religion and society, secular and religious thinking. Pupils of all confessions and denominations can study at the lyceum.

The classical lyceum works within school # 178 (Soviet district of Minsk) in the forms from 8 to 11.

After graduation the pupils have the right to continue their education in the humanities institutions along the following specialisms: philosophy, sociology, cultural studies, religious studies, theology, fine arts (arts history), classical philology (translation of patrological literature), museum studies and cultural heritage protection, other humanities specialisms. The professional training will be marked by religious education introducing the Christian ethical dimension into modern science and culture.
