With the Blessing of the Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Philaret, Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus, President of the Centre, two independent leading theological schools in Belarus and Russia organized summer theological institute 5 years ago. The objective of the institute is to allow the teachers of religious disciplines and the priests who have graduated from theological academies to attend a fortnight intensive course on Biblical studies, theology, liturgy study, Christian culture, Bible archeology, the history of religion, philosophy and some other subjects. Teaching is conducted by the leading specialists from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Minsk. During the course seminars are held where the students discuss the problems they face in their practical activities. The participants are supplied with free specialist academic and teaching literature and besides that the students can buy specialist editions at discount. The concentration of the leading specialists in one place supported with up-to-date literature is the significant distinctive feature of the institute. In the conditions when theological  education in the CIS countries faces serious difficulties and the Christian Churches lack qualified teachers, educational establishments, academic literature and the properly equipped and stocked libraries, the summer theological institute has become s serious step towards solution of these problems.

The project bears the ecumenical character because the representatives of any Christian confessions and denominations can attend the course.

Beginning with 2004, all the expenses of the summer theological institute – this really unique project - must be borne by the Centre. At the same time the cooperation with the Institute remains in the full, in the field of teaching materials the teachers will continue to read a number of disciplines and the fundamental academic publications will be accessible for the summer theology school students.
