The project aims at reducing the center’s expenditures for publishing educational and presentation materials, replenishing its library by the electronic copies of rare and unique editions through its own publishing Facilities by teaching literature and textbooks.

The Centre holds a great number of various events including the international ones for which small number of copies of hand-outs and presentation materials are published. The Centre also publishes informational booklets as well as academic and teaching literature. The number of copies is small and as a rule does not exceed 300 . The publishing costs of the editions however are sufficiently high and publishing them outside the Centre is too expensive. The acquisition of the own publishing facilities would allow to reduce the Centre’s expenditures and the finances saved will be allocated for other projects. In addition, the Centre would be able to render commercial publishing services which would raise its financial independence.

Besides, at present the unique religious and philosophy library of the Centre has neither its own copying facilities nor digitalization and recognition of text which not merely complicates its replenishment but also does not allow to render the traditional library service of copying materials.

The fact that the theology faculty on its curricula were the first to be created in the post-Soviet area led to an acute lack of textbooks and manuals. As a rule they are developed by the faculty teachers and invited experts. The number of copies of these books as a rule is no more than 50-100 with the number of pages up to 300 which precludes the publication outside the Centre.  But their publishing on the Centre’s small capacity copying equipment costs very much. The faculty cannot buy the textbooks published in Russia.

Since 2002 the faculty has been publishing its own textbooks, collection of academic papers, thematic collections of academic papers as well as its own journal. The acquisition of its own publishing facilities would permit to provide students, postgraduates and teachers of the faculty by educational literature and textbooks to reduce the costs of maintaining the teaching process, to achieve a wider involvement of students, teachers and postgraduates of the faculty and to allocate the funds saved to the development of the faculty.
