Saints Methodius and Cyrill Christian Educational Centre together with its Sunday school has developed and created a new Christian cultural program - Children's Christian puppet theatre "Batlejka".

The puppet theatre is portable. It looks like a suitcase when assembled. When it is opened it looks like a two-stored doll-house.

It is notable for its high mobility, large creative opportunities, dramatic expressiveness, the opportunities for development of symbolic and logic thinking of children.

With the help of the Batlejka there is an opportunity to show performances for any audience - at schools, hospitals, children's gardens, hospices. It is good means for missionary's activity.

The performances enact Biblical stories or create fairy tales where Christian children are the main heroes. The personages model all socially important types of people. The aim of these plays is to adapt children’s faith to the existing world. Every performance has another participant besides the puppets: an adult who sits in front of the Batlejka and talks to the audience. His task is to give the children a mature “right” evaluation of the events on the stage and to provide the correlation between the stage action and the audience’s response.

The actors of Batleika wrote more than 100 original scripts for missionary tasks in various children institutions . It is our counter-action to the children TV serials promoting amoral behaviour stereotypes. The necessity of such scripts is so great that an initiative has arisen to publish special edition making the scripts available for other secular puppet theatres of the Republic. It will become our contribution to the Missionary activities of the Orthodox Church.
