The Faculty of Theology was set up in 1993 at the European Humanities University in Minsk (Belarus). The main aim of the Faculty activity is the revival of national theological school. The graduates of the Faculty can continue their studies at the leading theological centres of the world, can work in the system of education, science and culture and also in the sphere of social and church service.
In 1996 the Saints’ Methodius and Cyrill Byelorussian Republican Christian Educational Foundation was created by the Council of the Faculty Trustees, which settled organisational tasks and carried out management of grants, assigned to the Faculty.
Among the Trustees of the Foundation – Bishop of Grodno and Volkovysk Artemij, the general director of the “Atlant” Company Mr. Leonid Kalugin, other known manufacturers (Mr. Lavrinovitch, Mr. Dementiev, Mr. Korenko, Mr. Kudryavcev, Ms. Keshishian, Mr. Kisel), the first who revived the traditions of a Trustees Council at educational and social institutions.
In spite of the fact that the Faculty of Theology and the Christian Educational Foundation did not receive funding from the state, they managed to solve many methodological and organisational problems and to ensure annual free-of-charge world standard training for 80 students within 5 years.
In connection with the appearance of many new directions in the Foundation activity during 1998-1999 (developed together with the Faculty of Theology and independently), the Foundation has raised its status and during the nation-wide re-registration of voluntary organisations in 1999 it received the new name: The International Voluntary Association «Saints’ Methodius and Cyrill Christian Educational Centre».
