The basic mission of the Christian Educational Centre is the realization and support of Christian educational, social and research programmes.

Revival of Christian culture,
Assistance to establishing of Orthodox Theological education in the Republic of Belarus,
Propaganda of peace, moral health and common to all mankind values,
Revival of traditions of the community of Church,
Participation in the Christian inter-confession dialogue and collaboration in educational and scientific areas,
Voluntary unification of public figures from the sphere of education, Church, science, healthcare, culture, art, mass media and business for joint enlightenment, social, educational, scientific, artistic, charity and other activities.

To achieve these aims the International Voluntary Association “Saints Methodius and Cyrill Christian Educational Centre” undertakes a series of projects.

The XVIth International Cyrill and Methodius Readings

The XVI^th International Cyrill and Methodius Readings took place on May 26-28, 2010 in Institute of Theology of Belarus State University (BSU) and at Belarus State University of Culture and Arts, devoted to the International day of Slavic writing and culture, at traditional organizational and financial support of the International public association «Christian educational center of Saints Methodius and Cyrill».

The Theme of the Conference is «Religious culture in the context of secular education».

Task Field:

1. Role of the Christian worldview discourse in formation of mentality, culture and statehood forms of the Belarusian nation;

2. Religious culture and its role in modern society;

3. West-European experience of including of religious culture into a system of secular education;

4. Interaction of Church and education system in secular society;

5. Problems of including of religious culture into the secular educational system in Belarus.

The following workshops took place:

1. Bases of religious culture as an actual component in secular educational system;

2. Religious culture as a philosophical and a social phenomenon.

The representatives of the Ministry of Education of Belarus and scientific research institutes of the National Academy of sciences of Belarus, heads of the Belarus High Schools, and also the representatives of a diplomatic corps, numerous representatives of Ministries of Education from Ukraine, Poland, Finland, Germany have participated in the work of Readings, clergy of Orthodox and Catholic Churches, scientific and pedagogical workers from universities of Mogilyov, Vitebsk, Grodno, Gomel and Polotsk. During the Readings the scientists, teachers and students have shared the scientific researches in the field of history, theology, and philosophy.

Within the frameworks of conference in Institute of theology of BSU took place also the student's XVI^th I Cyrill and Methodius Readings, dedicated to saint Ephrosinija of Polotsk on which have acted with reports in Russian, English and Deutch languages on theological, church-historical, religious knowledge and philosophical subjects the students of the Belarus state university, the Belarus state university of culture and arts and students of other high schools of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
